3rd Blog Entry

Dawson: In our last blog post I talked about the main feature I had implemented, that being the zombie enemy. Since then I have implemented two more enemies into our game. The first new enemy that I have added to our game is a running zombie that looks like the zombies that are already in our first build, but they are slightly larger and move much faster towards the player. The second new enemy that I have added to the game is a demonic deer in a hazmat suit who menacingly walks towards the player at a medium speed. In addition to adding new enemies, I have also given each enemy footstep sounds that play when they move, because such a feature is very important in regards to the immersion and overall feel of the game. Finally I have also implemented a health system for the player along with a game over/death screen scene that loads upon the player's health reaching zero, which plays a remixed version of Metamodernity by Vansire, which I created using the sound file editing software ...

Demo Build

Per Prof. Joerg, this build had to be through WebGL, which unfortunately severely butchers the quality and movement of our 3D FPS doom-esque game. So this build through Simmer.io works and shows our proof of concept but it lacks in comparison to what the game looks like when built properly. Title: Titan Story: Titan, Saturns' largest moon hosts humanity's newest endeavor into space exploration in search of new forms of power amongst the energy crisis on Earth. While Mars proved energy was capable of being harnassed the facilities were quarantined and abandoned due to unforeseen circumstances. The exploration ventured deeper into the solar system, landing on Titan and siphoning energy and materials from Saturns rings. Due to the demise of the Mars facilities, these new facilities were under lock and key and miles of bureaucratic doors. Everything is tight, security is impeccable, but not to Zeta Zeta is a parasitic space bacteria that infects the host and controls their ...

Jesse Brown So far we are ironing out the story and I happened to come up with this... Concept Story Titan, Saturns' largest moon hosts humanity's newest endeavor into space exploration in search of new forms of power amongst the energy crisis on Earth. Everything is tight, security is impeccable, but not to Zeta Zeta is a parasitic space bacteria that infects the host and controls their body. Not much is understood about Zeta because every supposed case has been mysteriously destroyed, alongside the host. Only rumors spread through the Titan facilites of its origin and symptoms. Titan Base has...

Game Proposal

Gamer Boys Proposal Dawson Bailey | Jesse Brown | Kyle Lamoureux What is the goal of the game? Entertainment value; fast, speed-focused gameplay with a focus on arcade-style enemy slaying. Environmental aspects will encourage fast gameplay with the ultimate goal of survival. What is the story or theme or emotion? Ideas on style and design. Influenced by the Doom franchise with a rustic, industrial take in a modern setting. This is an easier theme to arrange assets for, especially when considering textures. What does the game world look like? Linear level design with a focus on an environment which helps guide the character through the action. Industrial themes allow for complex level design with a lot of verticality, rotating platforms, interactable objects, etc. How does the player control the game? Standard arena FPS controls, WASD movements, interact keys, space for jumping. Is there a user interface? Yes there will be a UI for all of the menus that the player will interact wi...

1st Blog Entry

For our first blog entry, I will describe our proposed concept for a 3D game that we will create using Unity's editor. The game is going to be a first person shooter with standard arena FPS controls, including WASD movements, interact keys, and space for jumping. The main goal of our game is entertainment value, and we shall focus on speed and arcade style gameplay (in environments that encourage this) to maximize this while playing. So far we have decided that our game's theme will take inspiration from the Doom series, with a rustic, industrial take in a modern setting. We also decided on this because such a theme will be relatively easy for us to arrange assets for, especially when considering textures. The design of our game world is going to be linear with a focus on level environments themselves guiding the player through the action. Industrial themes will also allow for us to create complex levels with a lot of verticality and platforming. The other elements that will be...
